Dive Walker

Marine Sports Top > Dive Walker > Report

Aug. 11st, 2009, we visited Dive Walker which is place near from the southern Bali! Dive Walker is the marine sport that can be tired to enjoy walking under the sea for people who is not good at diving or cannot swim. It is the same type of activity as Sea Walker at Sanur or Marine Walk in Lembongan Island. We need to research what differences! So, Aiko & Takumi went there.

I cannot Swim. by. Aiko
Tanjungbenoa, 10:30 am Tanjungbenoa is near from Nusa Dua. It takes just 10 min. by motorbike from our office in Jimbaran. Going to the inside, there are parking and restaurant, beach is over there!! Today is good weather so good for diving♪
Parking and the thatched roof of restaurant
It’s like Bali, the thatched roof of restaurant〜 It has local atmosphere.
Beach Reception
Nice weather! Here is the famous area for marine sports, so many people enjoy parasailing and jet-skiing. Staff guides us to the reception. We finish payment and sign the application form. They can speak English.
Dressing room (old)

Check the dressing room, WC and locker!
There are 2 dressing rooms, and as you can see on the picture, little bit old. It’s fashionable “DRESSING ROOM,” ya. You can lock from inside, however, if you hesitate to change your clothes here, you had better wear the bathing suit before you leave the hotel.

WC is normal flush toilet, and there is locker. You need to keep the key by yourself.

Flush WC Locker
Wear diving suit Good cushion shoes
Wear the diving suit over the bathing suit. Looks like overalls. Keep your feet safe under the sea. Good cushion.
Accompanies Instructor
Actually, we have accompanies who are customers of Hiro-chan today! They were ready to go. Nice to meet you♪ Nyoman, today’s instructor is the big muscle marine-boy. In the instruction, he lectured adjusting water pressure and sign in the water.
Aiko is ready to go. Bring the water-proof camera with me.

Let’s go〜!!
Small boat View of sea shore
Now, we are on board! By the diving point, we move by a movable-pontoon or a small boat (on the picture). Wind is blowing, and we are ahead to Nusa Dua! On the right hand side, there are resort hotels. Meanwhile, I enjoyed chatting with accompanies.
Small boats around diving point, 11:25 am
It took less than 10 min. to get the point! It is not so far away from the sea shore, but depth is about 6 to 7m. There are people around us, and they enjoy snorkeling and the Turtle Island. But, only us can walk under the sea (*^-゚)v♪
Helmets and oxygen tank 25 kg helmet with yellow hose
This is the facility in the pontoon. Oxygen is sent through the yellow hose by the tanks behind. Like a spaceman’s helmet! It’s HEAVY!! According to the staff, maybe, 25kg weight!!
Wight band on waist Climbing down a ladder

In order to dive into the sea, you have to have weight with you. They ask your weight, so just answer honestly. I wore 5kg belt, and it’s so heavy!

One more thing, in case of the emergency, we wear the portable oxygen tank around waist. I was really nerves at this moment… I cannot swim. I asked how to use the portable oxygen again and again, so upset. My accompanies also worried about me( ̄Д ̄;;

Wear helmet Sink into the water
Okay, I have to go!! I get scared easily and I’m cold circulation, but the suit kept me warm than I expected! When the water comes to my neck, wear the helmet. It’s heavy on my shoulder… Dive into the sea by the weight. My pulse is getting higher and higher.
Climbing down a ladder slowly, step by step.

From now on, I report by high-function water proof camera. Comparing with Sea Walker, we dive deeper!! Climbing down a ladder slowly, step by step.

The good point of Dive Walker is you can have your own instructor! The instructor wears the diving equipment and swim freely in the water, and he takes care of you all the time.

I adjusted the water pressure so I did it by one step, so I took time. However, the instructor never made me hurry and he supported me well. I was not upset by the time I arrived at the bottom of the sea!!

Feeding fish Diver takes pictures of us.
The feeding time already started! Fish crowded around the pet-bottle with bread. (>▽<) That’s MANY!! If I pass my camera to the instructor, he took a lot from different sides! You should bring the water-proof camera♪
Fish gathering for food Look at this fish feeding!! I cannot see my front because of so many fish. I’m happy♪ Feel wired on my fingers by touching fish
(/ー ̄)/
Holding the handrail and playing with fish
Holding the handrail under the sea, we enjoy feeding to fish, taking picture, and watching the coral reefs! As Sea Walker, it’s not really like “walking under the sea” because we don’t walk much.
Aiko and many fish Fish and ladder
Tropical fish
If you ask your instructor to take pictures, he can take pictures in the sea creatures! In this limited area of the sea, there are many creatures〜 Wow!! w(*゚o゚*)w
Climbing up ladder Glass window bottom of boat
Sounds like 30 min. is too short, however, it’s suitable time for the diving! Landing with happiness. Our accompanies also enjoyed, “I found a fish like NEMO!” Good ヾ(@^▽^@)ノ We went back by a small boat. It has glass window on the bottom, but I had seasickness, so I couldn’t enjoy the view… During I was diving, Takumi was waiting me on the pontoon, and he also had bad seasickness.
Take shower Shuttle car
There is only cold-water shower and no shampoo, so you just rinse sea water… I wish they could have rental towel, but they don’t. If you apply the shuttle service, Dive Walker sends you back to your hotel. Safe driving!!
Dive Walker: Aiko’s impression

I tried Sea Walker the other day, and this was the second time diving for me, Dive Walker. I didn’t go into the water for a while, so I was really nerves at first. However, I could enjoyed pretty much once I was in the water♪ The sales point of Dive Walker is, we can have one instructor each! They are really well-prepared for safety. Instructors can speak English, anyway, we just talk by body language on the water.
In additional information, it’s different place that Sea Walker is held in Sanur Bay, but Dive Walker is held in Benoa Bay. The place of Dive Walker is far from Sanur and Ubud, but closer from Nusa Dua and Jimbaran.

You had better know about; the dressing room is old, the insurance is less-covered comparing with other company, and no towel and meal. However, they offer the activity in reasonable price, so you may check your budget, activity menu, and location!

※This report was written based on the information when the time of visiting. Course menu and schedule might be changed without notice. In addition, the report contains individual opinion and impression, however, these are not applied for all people. Please read it just for your reference. Thank you.

I’m the Cameraman on land. by. Takumi
Dive Walker: Takumi’s impression

Many foreigners joined this activity, from Asia, America and Europe, etc. The company itself is local company, I think. It takes 5 to 10 min. from beach to the pontoon by a boat. The sea was clear than I was expected. Tanjungbenoa is the most crowded place for marine sports, however, here is closer to Nusa Dua and not crowded.

For 1 hour, I took pictures on the pontoon this time, but it rolled and I got sick. Like me, if you don’t want to dive, you can wait on the pontoon, however, you should remember that it rolls.
If you are afraid of seasickness, it’s good idea to drink Bali coffee on the land.

※Food and drink is not included in this activity. During I was surviving seasickness, 6 staffs on board took care of me kindly. Their facility is simple, however, their service is good. I think that they cut the cost and offer reasonable price for us.

Dive Walker
Focus Point
  • 1. Reasonable!
  • 2. Man-to-man support by instructor!
  • 3. Good access from the southern resort area!
Report Memo

After finish diving, we waited for the boat to back, and an instructor brought a harpoon and dove into the sea!! 5 min. later, he showed up with a colorful fish. “This is tasty!” Oh, he is going to eat it for his lunch. Wow, he is really marine-boy!! Wild!
